Ava Baker Liss - Mezzo Soprano
Mezzo soprano and Baltimore native, Ava Baker Liss, has been perforning for San Diego audiences for 25 years. She has been associated with San Diego Opera since 1992 as chorister, ensemble alumna and bilingual artist-in-residence. Ms. Liss made her mainstage debut with SDO as Zulma in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri.
Ms. Liss was part ot the grand opening of the Stephen and Mary Birch North Park Theater with Lyric Opera of San Diego’s production of The Mikado in the role of Pitti Sing. Prior to that she performed the role of Mrs. Peachum in The Beggar’s Opera with Lyric Opera. She has also essayed Mrs. Noye in Noye’s Fludde and Baba the Turk in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress with Opera San Jose.
La Jolla Symphony and Chorus, Grossmont Symphony, San Diego Chamber fOrchestra, PACEM, Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra, San Diego Festival Chorus and Orchestra, and San Diego Symphony have featured Ms. Liss in many presentations.
Ava continues this year as a chorister with San Diego Opera and currently is associated with First Presbyterian Church of San Diego and Temple Adat Shalom.
