Julia Taylor - Soprano

Julia Taylor is beginning her Master of Music degree in Opera Performance at the University of Kansas and is thrilled to be back making music with Bodhi Tree Concerts.

She will be making her Lawrence, KS operatic debut in November, as Mrs. Gobineaux in The Medium.

She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University (2012) with the honor of singing the University’s Alma Mater at the graduation ceremony. After graduation, she relocated to Coronado, finding a niche singing in Christ Episcopal Church, The Coronado Library Performance Series, and the San Diego Reader even published an article about her singing Mozart in Café 1134 in February of 2014! While in San Diego, she sang regularly with the San Diego Pro Arte Voices, the San Diego Master Chorale, Point Loma Opera Theatre (PLOT) and Bodhi Tree Concerts.

Recent roles include Elena in Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze (PLOT), Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas (PLOT), and Dorothé in Cendrillion (PLOT). She was a Classical Singer Competition Finalist in 2012 and 2013, a National Association of Teachers of Singing winner in 2011, 2012 and 2015, and the Grand Prize winner in the University of San Diego Messiah Competition in 2015.

She is proud to be an OperaWorks alumna (2011, 2014) and received additional training in art song and art song theatre at Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI, 2010). Her most recent teachers include Joyce Castle, John Craig Johnson, and Jonathan Retzlaff.
