Martha Jane Weaver - Mezzo Soprano
Martha Jane Weaver is an extremely versatile singer, with repertoire ranging from Bach to Verdi to Argento; Broadway,Gospel and Spirituals. Equally at home in the wacky world of Gilbert &Sullivan and the realm of major dramatic oratorio and concert repertoire, her versatility includes such unique experiences as concert and touring performances of Copland’s In The Beginning with Cappella Gloriana, conjuring up a character in The Great Broadcast of 1926, a mock Vintage Radio Show celebrating the San Diego Museum of Art’s 80th Birthday, and recording the voice of Brünnhilde for an episode of the Nickelodeon cartoon ‘Ah! Real Monsters’, which was distributed worldwide and is now available on DVD! As a concert and opera soloist, notable collaborations include: Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, L.A. Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, Utah Festival Opera and Philadelphia Opera Theater. Martha Jane is a soloist and section leader at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, La Jolla and a frequent guest recitalist at many San Diego area churches and concert venues. She has also, in recent years, become a noted vocal coach and choral workshop director; and has served as Musical Director for Escondido based Broadway Theater Arts Academy, teaching students ages 5 to 18.
