Lucia Leon - Tenor

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Lucia Leon is a San Diego based operatic tenor. She began her vocal training at the prestigious National Music Conservatory of Mexico City where she gained notoriety as a talented young singer, earning multiple leading roles such as Tony in the National School for the Dramatic Arts production of West Side Story and Sutafú in the Mexican premier of David Azurza’s opera, El Gigante de Altzo.

 

In 2017 she relocated to the United States to pursue a Bachelors in Music at San Diego State University’s School of Music and Dance under the guidance of Soprano, Laurinda Nikkel. Her voice has been recognized by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) as well as the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus Young Artist competitions.

 She has had the honor of singing for a number of world renown artists such as Jake Heggie, Federica Von Stade, Angel Blue, Ricky Ian Gordon, Ann Moss and Lori Laitman. She has also had the opportunity to sing a variety of Operatic Roles including Prince Charmant from Massenet’s Cendrillon, Bill and from Jonathan Dove’s Flight, the double role of Aminta and Tirsi on Jacopo Peri’s Euridice and Julian in La Verbena de la Paloma, along with soloist parts in masterworks such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's timeless setting of the Requiem Mass.

 

She is excited to collaborate with Bodhi Tree Concerts on their upcoming productions of Aftermath By Nicolas Revelas and Purcell’s timeless classic Dido and Aeneas.
