Ryan Nestor - Percussion
Ryan Nestor is currently a candidate for the Doctorate in Contemporary Music Performance at the University of California, San Diego. Active as a soloist and chamber musician, Nestor has performed with: red fish blue fish, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), The Bang on a Can All -Stars, Calder Quartet, Renga, and San Diego New Music.
Nestor has served as Music Director for The Old Globe Theater's production of Othello and was principal percussionist of the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus.
Nestor has performed at the Cervantino Music Festival,
La Jolla Summer Festival, The Ojai Music Festival, Monday Evening Concerts, The Wulf, Moore Theater and Bang on a Can Marathon. Nestor was a fellowship recipient and former member of the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble (ACE) at the Aspen Summer Music Festival.
As an educator, Nestor has instructed music courses at UCSD and was an adjunct lecturer in music at Queensborough Community College. Nestor earned his Master's degree in Percussion Performance at Stony Brook University and his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky.
