Twenty-four year old pianist Hugo Suarez is yet another example of the proliferation of amazing young jazz talent in San Diego. Hugo is one of Southern California’s most in demand pianists- performing regularly with the Gaslamp Quarter Big Band, the Gilbert Castellanos Quartet, vocalists Leonard Patton, Allison Adams Tucker, drummer Matt Smith and others.
He is co-founder of the jazz ensemble Abstrack, and is a noted composer and arranger. Recent performances include the Tijuana Jazz and Blues Festival with vocalist Leonard Patton.
Hugo’s musical background represents a wide range of styles from Latin and jazz to hip hop and groove oriented music. Hugo represents a new wave of jazz artists who are completely creative within a wide variety of
musical genres, setting the standard for the next generation.
