Enrique Toral - The Defendant

Hailed as “an excellent tenor” by The Boston Globe, ENRIQUE TORAL is an artist who has won acclaim across North America and Europe for the beauty and incisiveness of his singing and for his dynamic stage portrayals. With over forty-five roles to his credit, he has appeared on Broadway and with New York City Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Cincinnati Opera, San Diego Opera, New Orleans Opera, Opera Carolina, New Jersey State Opera, Opera Tampa, Connecticut Grand Opera and Sarasota Opera to name a few, as well as the Ravinia and Tanglewood Music Festivals.


The tenor made his European debut in a Rossini pairing of La Cambiale di Matrimonio as Edoardo Millfort and Il Signor Bruschino as Florville at the Teatro Sociale in Brescia, Italy. He has shared the stage with legendary operatic talents including performances of Otello as Roderigo opposite Carlo Bergonzi, Tosca as Spoletta with Aprile Millo and Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor, starring Sumi Jo. Other notables include Bardolfo in Falstaff under Seiji Ozawa - heard on NPR's World of Opera, his Broadway debut in La Bohème directed by Baz Luhrmann and the Emmy nominated world premiere of the triptych opera Central Park, seen on PBS' Great Performances. He was a Regional Winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, among many other awards.


Concert engagements are highlighted by performances with New York City Opera's VOX: Showcasing American Composers, Orchestra Gianandrea Gavazzeni (Italy), members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Northern Kentucky Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Repertory Orchestra, La Jolla Symphony and Chorus, San Diego Master Chorale and the Napa Valley Symphony & Chorale.
