Who inspires you, musically and otherwise and why?
Gilbert Castellanos
My father was my biggest influence. He was also a musician and just watching him work hard first hand really inspired me to become the best that I can be.

What is your favorite jazz album/recording and why?
Gilbert:
One of the records that changed my life was Clifford Brown with strings. It showed me a different side of jazz - the delicate side of jazz where things did not have to be up tempo, loud and confusing. It was beautiful, simple, and clear and in my opinion is the most difficult thing to do as a musician!

Would you talk about collaborating & performing with Irving.
Gilbert:
I love working with Irving. He is one of the most talented musicians that I have ever worked with in my career! I love the fact that he has so much respect for the music and the musicians that he works with. He really cares about the music!
