Juan Carlos Acosta is active locally, nationally, and internationally as a choral conductor, singer and teacher.

 

He currently serves as Artistic Director of SACRA/PROFANA where he has been the principal conductor since 2015. Under his direction the group has been noted for their excellence, innovation and their refined choral sound. Juan Carlos has had the privilege of giving world and regional premieres by composers such as Brandon Waddles, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Kim André Arnesen, Saunder Choi, Brent Dutton, Jason Rosenberg, and prepared SACRA/PROFANA for the world premiere performance of the film “Star Trek: Beyond” with a score by Michael Giacchino. 

 

Juan Carlos also serves as the Director of Music Ministries at the Village Community Presbyterian Church, and the Director of the University of San Diego Choral Scholars. Juan Carlos has held faculty positions at the University of San Diego, Cuyamaca College and the Chula Vista School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and remains active as a clinician, adjudicator and guest speaker.
